Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working exclusively with an amazing growth business based in Harrogate who are looking to appoint to a newly created role of Management Accountant.
The purpose of the role is to provide management support for all accounting activities and ensure the timescales for monthly reporting are adhered to. A keen eye for detail is required and there is great exposure to a wide range of areas, providing good opportunities in line with their growth plans. Role would suit either a qualified accountant or finalist stage studier. Demonstrable experience of working within an SME environment would be essential.
Duties include:
- Prepare allocated monthly management accounts
- Ensure the management accounts are compliant
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or misallocated costs
- Monitor and report on cashflow
- Work with the finance team to agree inter-company reconciliations
- Liaise with the team on any issues/discrepancies with the monthly management accounts or reconciliations and work with the team to resolve any queries and agree how to close.
- Prepare monthly reports and commentary
- Prepare ad hoc reports including variance analysis, as and when requested
- Prepare/assist in the preparation of forecasts
- Assist in audit queries and information for preparation of statutory accounts
- Prepare tax returns
- Meet departmental and statutory deadlines, seeking support if there are any concerns in achieving this.
- Maintain accurate departmental and statutory controls and processes
- Partner other members of the team to prepare specific reports or complete project work
- Support junior members of the team as and when required
- Maintain up to date knowledge
- Other tasks as and when required to support the finance team.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- ACCA or CIMA finalist/qualified essential or the ability to demonstrate relevant experience
- Able to demonstrate relevant experience in a Management Accountant role
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills essential
- Experience using Microsoft Navision an advantage
- Strong communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Ability to deliver accurate and timely information
- Ability to meet multiple tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills
- Exceptional attention to details
- Self-motivated and results focused.
Salary up to £40k plus a generous benefits package
