Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working with this successful logistics business based in Leeds, to appoint to a newly created opportunity for a Commercial Finance Analyst.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer you are responsible for delivering high quality insight into margin and pricing.  You will also work closely with the Commercial Director, Operations Director and Account Management Director, as the role is of fundamental importance to the financial performance of the business.

You will be responsible for the following:

Systems, Data & Reporting

  • Working with the IT Director, maintain robust commercial reporting systems and data integrity.
  • Develop pricing tools, margin models, and dashboards using Excel, Power Platform and Power BI.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting to support executive decision-making.
  • Prepare ESG reports for the inclusion in the monthly Board report.
  • Implement price changes in the company’s billing systems.

Pricing & Margin Management

  • Own pricing models across transport, pallet network, and storage services.
  • Ensure pricing reflects true cost, network charges, and operational risk.
  • Lead margin analysis by customer, service, route, and product.
  • Provide analysis to support the CFO in recommending rate structures, uplifts, and cost pass-throughs.
  • Manage fuel surcharges.

Financial Analysis & Strategic Insight

  • Produce detailed commercial and margin reporting for the CFO and Board.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities affecting profitability.
  • Support long-term financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

Contract & Commercial Risk Management

  • Maintain the customer contract database.
  • Ensure compliance with pricing terms, rate reviews, and escalation mechanisms.
  • Support contract negotiations from a financial and governance perspective.

Pallet Network & Supplier Commercial Control

  • Review network costs, surcharges, and performance metrics and flag changes to senior management.
  • Validate and challenge network and supplier invoices.
  • Monitor network profitability and service mix.

As the successful candidate, you need to be able to demonstrate the following requirements:

  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.
  • Deep understanding of Power BI and Power Platform.
  • Experience in a business with high volumes of data.
  • Experience of working on pricing within a B2B environment.
  • Margin analysis.
  • Ability to sense check the output of complex models and translate that output into conclusions and recommendations.
  • Be a strong communicator.
  • Be confident providing commercial challenge.
  • Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Credible, professional, and resilient.

Salary up to c£50,000 plus a generous benefits package
