Optimum Recruitment Group are proud to be working exclusively with this successful and reputable business based in Huddersfield, to appoint an Accounts Assistant to the team.

This is a newly created opportunity supporting the Financial Controller, as part of an evolving finance structure. The role calls for a collaborative working style; proactive and adaptive approach as well as the motivation to continually improve.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ledger management.
  • Posting daily cash book transactions & reconcile to bank statements.
  • Perform month end checks on reversing accruals, open batches, roll forward accounts.
  • Monthly standing journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Monthly intercompany accounting reconciliations.
  • Preparation of information requirements for the Office of National Statistics.
  • Post vehicle, fuel and mobile phone expense journals.
  • Analysis of high-volume month end data.
  • Supporting the Financial Controller with other duties and responsibilities as required.

As the successful candidate you must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent, consideration given for relevant experience.
  • Sound computer literacy with advanced Excel for report building, data manipulating and analysis.
  • Experience of delivering month-end requirements and reporting.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Ability to work within strict deadlines and reporting timeframes.
  • Demonstrable experience in financial accounting and accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of financial control requirements and audit implications.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to effectively support internal and external customers/stakeholders.

Salary up to £27,000 plus benefits
